Ken and I are departing on our own ways today. He is marching westward to Calgary and I'm staying in Regina for a half day to see some sights. We sneakily cleaned the chains on our bikes in the back of the motel parking lots before we said goodbye. I had a great time riding and hanging with Ken and I will miss his company moving forward. But I knew we wouldn't be able to ride together forever. At some point he would have to veer east into the Northwest Territories from the Yukon and I would go west into Alaska. I certainly hope we will get to ride together and hang out again. Godspeed Ken!

Something that is funny to me as an American is the word Royal in countries of the British Commonwealth. Canada has lots of Royal institutions and I got to visit a couple of them in Regina. I went to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM) not too far from the motel. The RSM contained exhibits about the natural and cultural history of Saskatchewan. The claim to frame is the world's largest T-Rex fossil.

I couldn't spend a ton of there in the RSM so I walked thru the museum in a bit over an hour. Hit another rain storm while on my way to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Heritage Center.

The RCMP Centre was worth the visit. It contained the history of how the RCMP was formed along with their history, purpose and traditions. Exhibits contained their historic goals and their current mission in policing.

It was a fun morning visiting these two museums. I feel like I've been moving from town to town so fast in the past week that I haven't had a chance to slow down. This leisure morning was a reminder of taking it slow. While I definitely miss Ken's company, I also miss taking it easy and only traveling half days so I can visit museums and tourist spots. I better get used to traveling solo again because I don't think I'll be picking up any other riding companion for the reminder of the trip.
