Banff is one of those places that I've heard of forever but never thought I would go. If it's not for having a motorcycle in my life, I doubt that I would make the effort to come here. While I like nature, I've never been a hardcore hiker or camper. But now, I seek out the amazing rides and roads that are usually out in the wilderness.

I picked today to head off to Banff because it's finally a nice day with zero chance of rain. I was thinking about going to the old mining town of Drumheller but decided to take advantage of the beautiful day to go to Banff since the next few days were projected to be rain.

The Bow Valley Parkway/1A is a fantastic two lane road takes you from Calgary all the way up to Banff and Lake Louise. Before heading into Banff proper, the parkway took me to Kananasakis.

From Kananaskis, it was a mix of Bow Valley Parkway and the Trans Canada Highway. The Trans Canada did not disappoint with majestic views of the Canadian Rockies with its gentle curves.

It's a national park so there's a lot of people and traffic enough though it's still early for Canada's busy tourist season. The main attraction here is Lake Louise. Though many people say the less famous Moraine Lake is even more scenic than Lake Louise. I would have to agree. There are separate entries for those locations.

The weather has been decent considering daily rain. Except for a few sunny moments, it's been cloudy and the sky is dimmed. The forecast for the next few days are also high percentage of rain. Navigating daily rain has been tiring. I hope it clears up before I get further north.
