Leah and Charlie convinced me to take the northern loop into Nelson, a ferry to Crawford Bay and then down south to Creston before crossing the border into Bonners Ferry, Idaho. It's a pretty short ride if I went to Bonners Ferry directly so I decided I had the time to do one last Canadian sightseeing tour.

Nelson, BC is known as a hippie town and many Americans during the Vietnam War escaped into Nelson to evade the draft. When I go into the town, it's appeared that hippies has been replaced by hipsters. The place were retired skateboarders go to have brunch:
Good brunch but service and paying took so long....I guess the hippie attitude hasn't completely died out.
After brunch, it was a short 20 miles ride to catch the Balfour, BC - Kootenay Bay ferry. A short 40 minute free ferry ride. There were about a dozen bikes boarding the ferry. Had a few cool conversations with a Harley rider about our trips and a few ADV riders about tires - what a cliche!
It was a beautiful day and it was nice to be out on the water.
From Crawford Bay, it was about a 50 mile ride south to Creston, BC. Creston is known for their fruit stands and I saw plenty riding down the Creston-Rykerts Hwy/BC-21 S. Actually, Terry from Calgary used to live in Creston and had a fruit farm and stand. From Creston, it was about another 20 minutes until I'm at the border. I've spent about a month riding thru most of Canada and in just a mere 8 miles that portion of the trip will be over and I'll find myself back in the US.
