Today is going to be a long day to ride up to the Icefield Parkway but because I didn't want to stay the money to stay in Jasper again, I'm going even further by another hour to Hinton where I have a motel room for $100.

But first, I'm meeting Guy and Andrea for breakfast! Turns out serendipitously that they're in Kamloops on their way home to Vancouver. And my Airbnb is literally 3 blocks away from their motel. So we met up for a quick breakfast first thing in the morning.

After that, I hit the road.

It was a hot day around the 90s. 228 miles east on the Trans-Canada Highway took me to Golden. It's a bit weird to come back here as I recognized this part of the highway from a month ago. Also strange to think I've been on the road for over two months now. The construction on this part of the highway is still going on. The road is on the edge of the mountains next to all sorts of construction vehicles and workers.

Another hour east and I'm on the Icefield Parkway (AB-93) and it's an amazing day of 75F/24C. What a world of difference this time around on the parkway. I actually want to look around and stop and see the sights and take some photos. And because I didn't get here until almost 5 PM, the entrance booths are already unmanned and I got in for free and there's hardly anyone here on the parkway. Fest your eyes on the Icefield Parkway:

The Columbia Icefield.

A good three hours later I arrive at the end of the Parkway and turn east to bypass Jasper into Hinton. I arrive pretty late into Hinton around 10pm and now that I'm north again, I still have daylight. I check into my average motel with an appropriate average price and managed to find a restaurant across the street that was still open.

The next morning I'll be back tracking thru the Parkway and down into Tappen where I have a Bunk-a-Biker room setup for my trek into Vancouver.
