The sole reason I'm this far south in Texas is because of the the town of Lockhart, the BBQ capital of Texas. Lockhart, Texas has several BBQ restaurants that are legendary in the state and beyond. Since I'm only one person and can only have one meal in town, I chose Black's BBQ, a third generation BBQ family restaurant.

I got the ginormous beef rib and a jalapeno cheese sausage:

I'm no food critic but the beef rib was tender, smokey and juicy but I think the jalapeno cheese sausage stole the show. The sausage has this deep intense smokey flavor with a slight kick from the jalapeno. I've never had anything sausage that tasted this amazing before. It was definitely worth the extra miles to come to Lockhart and I definitely need to come back to try more selection at Black's and the other restaurants in town. After Lockhart, I heave my BBQ filled body back onto the bike and head northeast to another Texas institution.
